Think'n'Create Overall

I forgot to blog about what has and had happened with this class.
So, now that it is all over, I will finally add the images I took and minutes I collected now with a final evaluation of myself.
These are from the first meeting we had about who was doing what with organizing Think'n'Create. We tried to set basic dates and throw ideas of who did we want to judge and what teams everyone was in. For the first meeting, we hit the ground running.
During this time, I was in the Installation team and didn't have very much to do but plan what rooms we could hire for Think'n'Create. We decided to combine the Venue and Installation team into one group, as we will be working side by side anyway.
How the meeting works is that we would first have our own team meetings, going over everything that is important for us to all know/planning different things/making decisions/discussing what we will bring up in the meeting.
These cover lots of what happens over the term. With most of the term planned so early, it was a great foundation to build up from. It was also a great practice with the minute taker and treasurer for the many meetings that would take place. At this point, I was looking forward to how the event would come together.

The busy came when the entries were handed in. My teammates had already planned who would write up the exel documents. I was not selected to be writing them up, so instead I ran around being the runner and chasing up many students about entries. I insured I would be useful during this time and I felt like I was. Much later in time, I was asked/questioned by Corrie for why the names of all the entries were not ordered in alphabetical order with the last names. I then asked my team
(while they were organising some installation) if I could fix this, and they said it was OK. So I went over all the 5 exel documents and reordered them in alphabetical order.

Here are the new exel sheets.

OK, I don't have the exel sheets but I can a sure you I did them ;)
Afterwards, we set up the RAW Gallery. Here are the photos I took of the Gallery.
With these photos, the hole that appeared in the wall is seen clear as day. These photos are actually after we reset up the Gallery (I could now be there the first day and on the Tuesday it looked untidy and inconstant). With the help of keen eyed Devon, we re-organised the Gallery and tried to cover the hole with a banner from a sponsor (it worked well).
I asked the Marketing team to put a Think'n'Create poster over the hole (for both humor and also the hole draws attention to the poster more). On the day of Think'n'Create, the hole was 'fixed' and looked cleaner (we still covered it with the banner).
(I want to add more minutes to this blog post but I would have to transform them from PDF into PNG by putting every image into Photoshop and saving them out... That would take a long time, but I have all the minutes).
With the Gallery set up, next was the Greenscreen room we got with Ash. We worked with the Greenscreen room on Monday the 4th (hand in day for all our assignments). I forgot about this planned event and was no help at all. It was left for Gayle and Kassy to so alone (Rachel emailed that she could not make it). I felt really bad and promised to make more of an effort next time we were working on it.

That Tuesday and Wednesday, I made sure I was there to help. On the Tuesday, we had planned for a projector to show the films ad even tapped a massive piece of paper to the wall. We ran into many problems with audio and not having the cables. Chris McDonald thought of the solution (we were working hard to get it sorted before the judges came) with a Bluetooth speaker.

But on the Thursday, the plans had changes and we had a TV to show the works instead. I was just glad we would have something that would work for sure with sound. When the chairs were set up, I knew that there was not enough chairs (but no one could hear me) so on the night of the event I rushed to get more chairs for everyone (still not enough but they were OK with standing).

I found the fun part of Installation was the day of the event the Thursday. We were to set up the game room in the Kia room, TV all working and playing films, stickers everywhere and help set up catering. I liked putting stickers everywhere. Everyone in our team was working really hard and well together. We did see some 3rd years put poster up of their films without asking us (my teammate got a little grumpy) but I just thought it was cool to see.
The drama I heard about with 3rd years was interesting and disheartening. I was sad to hear that fellow students (not putting their names for their privacy) were upset, angry and some tears. I tried to pull away from the drama of it and stay happy/neutral. I could understand why the 3rd years were unhappy but many other people's works didn't make it into Center stage either like mine. I also helped Jauqie set up the Mum window and getting the manikin. Setting up went by so fast and with about 2 hours to spare. I got really bored so I helped with catering (it was a chance to help out and it was fun :D). I set up those crackers amazingly. Then the event started (I forgot to take photos of the event but our class and tutor were there and knows what happened).

A glass was broken and a near fight could have arose (Thank you Jauqie for fixing the mini fight and Thank you tutor Rachel for clearing space and insuring safety with the glass on the ground). It was fixed quickly and there was not much drama afterwards (but I latter on did here are a stranger stealing a packet of cookies and taking it to Center stage when I told them Not To, Celeb told them off and took the food back... Go Celeb).

There were a lot of people going to the Greenscreen room to view the films and that made me really happy. Lots of people crowded around the food and didn't go to the Gallery but that is just what happens. Then we went into Center stage.

Within Center stage, the judges and LA speaker did an AMAZING JOB. Everyone Loved it and took great advice away from it. The animations and films shown were Amazing. I was even more surprised to see that My Animation Notated Brother Was There! I was so so so happy to get a really great response with lots of people enjoying the short film, it boasted my confidence lots.

I had been having lots of doubts about my work as I was the only animator in my compositing class working alone (they worked with filming students and got really amazing shots). I felt like my work was not very good and wondered how I should have not entered it into Think'n'Create. I had been feeling down about it... But when I saw it up at Center stage, I felt like it was worth it and that maybe I was just beating myself up for no reason. I felt so happy when people come over to me and said I did a really great job. Those people have no idea how much that meant to me.

The People Who Won Earned It! It gave me lots of ideas and a goal to aim for next year. Then the event was over. Lot of happy people and some mini drama but I don't like to look at that too much.

The next day, many didn't know but I was doing modeling for a fashion showcase, wearing my gaming outfit for my fashion friend Steph. I was nervous about that but work with the Insllation team where I could to get cleaned up.

Now no excises, but I didn't pull my weight nearing the end of clean up (I forgot some medication I need ha ha whops). Go Kyle and Kassy, they worked hard. I did do lots before the 'nearing the end' stage, and also sent emails to people about picking up their artworks as soon as they can. When everything was done, I had to head away to get ready for modeling. When leaving, I was really happy with what we managed to achieve.

As in my report, I didn't pull my weight with blogging as I thought the meeting were enough (so some strange reason). I also that I needed to manage how I remembered important event I am meant to help with. Lastly, I live very far away and my only ride it my Mum and Dad, I cannot attend every important event. I felt like my teammates didn't understand that fully but that is OK too. I am still very proud of what we as a fill team achieved as a whole. We did very well and I was glad to be a part of it :D
