Maya into Substance

In Maya highlight what to export and export as obj or fbx, into substance painter open new project and choice file to use.

This was what I was directed to do to get Maya files into Substance painter. Here are the images I went through to get it into Substance painter.

I did it! Also, never update the software (unless told to) but never do it.
