First class of BSA206
Today is my first class of BSA206
My first task is to create and show my top ten favorite films, with my own opinions added along.
- One
- Yurri on Ice. The animation and art work is beautiful. I love the character arcs between the two main characters, creating a realistic relationship between the two.
- Howl's moving Castle. The animation and style was so amazingly unique, I am still amazed. Strange story but beautiful. Amazing relationship between the two main characters.
- Johnny English series. I love Rowan's work from Johnny to Mr Bean. His expressions were always spot-on, with action and reaction.
- Kung Fu Panda. This was my introduction to the culture and existence to Asia as a whole. Love the comedy and 3D animation, loving on Po.
- Your Name. The plot twist I will never forget. I love the art of this film, the character arcs took time and energy to develop and the never ending links from start to the end were incredible.
- Seven
- Spirited Away. Similar to Howl's moving Castle, truly unique and amazing story and animation. Unknown story path but beautifully told till the end.
- Nine
- Mulan. Once again, an introduction to Asia. I loved Mulan with her fighting to fireworks and being brave to be herself. Also liking the sassy red dragon.
I should look at Empire Magazine, World's 100 best films, from looking at the titles, this is the twenty films list I would/will watch in this year.

This year, I am being told to watch A LOT of films. From old, new to classic. I will have to try my best to watch the twenty films I am suggested to watch, as this is part of my course.
I can go and ask tutor Chris in order to watch some films by renting or borrowing the films though SIT.
Now I am looking into how I analyze film as a whole, both while watching them and rethinking about what I experienced while watching them.
While watching a film, my physical body language is usually still and un-moving as I watch the film, in order to take in everything I hear, see, think and feel about the current scene. If a film is able to have such an impact on me to have me move, or react in any physical way, the film will greatly impact my work in both animation and how I look at other film I watch afterwards.
Example; Back to the Future, Opening scene
It began with a close up shot of a whole bunch of clock, the only thing we are able to hear is the ticking of the clocks as the camera slowly starts to pan around the different items in the room. This sets up the messy room with gadgets and strange items all randomly place around the room, that already had me thinking that this story (along with the title) would be based around a mad scientist. As the dog begins to bark and the main young character walks in, I can tell the sort of time period that the film is set in, being prior to the 2000s, with a young, possibly rebellious, skateboarder teen. As he specks, the idea I had of the character is informed and confirmed with the way he specks, being really casual and informal. He is looking for a man called 'Doc' who must be the mad scientist living with the dog. Also, providing more to Doc being a scientist, the young man calls the dogs name, being Einstein.
Now my own experiences with sad or shocking feelings that affected me greatly
- Your Name. The plot twist I will never forget. I love the art of this film, the character arcs took time and energy to develop and the never ending links from start to the end were incredible.
- The Girl who Leaped Though Time. The climate lest me in utter shock, with disbelief with what had just been revealed. I love how it court me of guard to the point of amazing trauma.
- Inside Out. Such a happy bubbly film with happiness and love
