FADE IN:
EXT. FEILD – MORNING
Soft Music playing in Background
Soft music greets the audience to a soft field setting. Title screen then fades on and off the screen. Then, far away in the distance, ROBOT wanders into the screens view.
ROBOT then makes their way across the screen holding CAMERA within their arms, beeping away happily as if ROBOT can communicate with CAMERA, though the audience does not know what ROBOT is saying.
ROBOT
(beeping)
‘Hey friend. Let’s go on an adventure!’
ROBOT begins to show CAMERA around, all while beeping away. CAMERA is first shown a flower in the field.
ROBOT
(beeping)
‘Did you see that?! WOW!’
ROBOT then quickly rushes CAMERA away to see the next thing.
ROBOT is sitting beside CAMERA, but CAMERA falls more onto ROBOT.
ROBOT
(squeal beep)
‘Ohhhh?!’
ROBOT is surprised and bashful but shyly hugs CAMERA back.
ROBOT continues to show CAMERA the world around them, but then spots two items intertwined and linked. ROBOT stares for a few moments then glances at CAMERA.
ROBOT
(electronic)
‘Hummmmmm… Ahh!’
Realizing what they just did, ROBOT whisks CAMERA away before CAMERA sees the items too.
ROBOT moves and stands on the edge of the world with CAMERA, happily bouncing about, excited to be with CAMREA. ROBOT then picks up CAMERA and spins around and around all while seeming happy.
ROBOT
(beeping) (laughing)
‘Eh he he he he he he’
ROBOT and CAMERA sit by hill, looking at some tools left on the ground. ROBOT picks one tool up and the soft music suddenly stops.
Silence + Static building
ROBOT stares at the tool with an unreadable expression. ROBOT’S memory chip starts to turn as ROBOT’S memories suddenly creeps into the screen.
ROBOT
(soft beeping)
Do you remember? What happened?
EXT. ROBOT’S – MEMEORY SMASH CUT
ROBOT’S memory of two happy robots are silhouetted on the screen, both with different colour lights flashing. One robot is seemly destroyed while the other watches, being left all alone. The robot destroyed then changes and is built into something else, a box? No, a camera. The robot that was left alone finds the camera and holds it close.
EXT. FEILD – EVENING
Soft Music returns a slower pace than before
ROBOT’S fight with their memory chip finally ends.
ROBOT
(tired)
Sighh…
ROBOT looks back at CAMERA. ROBOT silently moves back over to CAMERA and places its arm around CAMERA. ROBOT and CAMERA’S lights both flash as an extreme long shot finishes the scene.
FADE OUT:
THE END
Here are some notes I was given by my classmates and Duncan Sarties.
- Could the camera, possibly, be something else that is completely useless? To show much more clearly that the Robot is loving an inanimate object.
- If the flashback sequence going to be a different style of animation? To show more that it's a memory.
- Maybe the robot plays with camera, like in a child like way. Talks to camera with no responce but acts like there was a responce. Robot is giving life to the inanimate object.
- What style if the camera? Can it be like a polaroid camera, and at the end of the animation. The camera prints a picture of both them and Robot, but instead of a camera, its them as a robot.
I like some of these ideas. I will be taking on the Camera being a polaroid camera, as this idea is so cute and has more depth in the camera being the past robot.
I am also liking the idea about the flashback sequence being in another style of animation. I was already thinking of doing this but this helped to sort the idea.
