Gaming world change

The gaming world has changed greatly

The world has started to move away from games being stuck on just one device (Console, PC, Phone) but now being internet based. This means that the range of customers has increased by possibly 40%. It also means that there is a massive call for people to get jobs in the company, making it easy for us (job seekers) to get jobs. Lots and lots of jobs in the gaming world.

I need to consider this for when I leave SIT and think about the type of job I will get. But, although gaming is increasing, the animation field still has more job available within New Zealand. This just means that I will have more options than I realized.

I should also sign up for the news letters in the NZGDA (New Zealand Game Developers Association). It includes possible job listing and studio listings.

'The industry we are about to go into is the industry we make it. We can leave it as it is or we can make it better than it is.'

My tutor just came back from an huge event in America and she told the class some information. I tried to write down some basics to what she said about the gaming and animation world overseas.

'A woman who was teaching and talking about what we find is an open topic in New Zealand like women's right, ethnicity inclusion, LGBTQ recognition and other topics that follow suit, was receiving death threats and is unsafe to the point that she is not able to go outside at night for any reason.'

This is the gaming and animation world outside of New Zealand. Most of the people working in the front line are white males (possibly 90%). I must recognise and consider the rest of the worlds actions. This culture is real and if I was to go out in the world I would be truly shocked with the world.

With this, there is a large debate about this topic. I must stay on task.
